Karen Mitchell, Head of Information, Becta
Currently leading the Becta team working on Information Management Strategy advice and guidance, Systems Interoperability and Data Security.
Karen is an experienced Senior Manager with a professional ICT background who has been working in Local Education Authorities with schools for the last 20 years and in a national role with Becta for the last three years.
Prior to joining Becta she worked in a large Local Authority where her career progressed from providing both technical and Information Management systems support and training, to management roles in the Education department. In 1997 she was appointed as ICT Strategy and Development manager in a new unitary authority. She was responsible for the design and implementation of the ICT Strategy for the schools and Children’s service. This work involved wide area and local area network infrastructures definition, procurement, development and support of Information Management systems for both schools and the Local Authority, providing Broadband connections for all schools and Learning Platform implementation
