Peter TwiningPeter Twining, Programme Director, Vital
Peter Twining started out as a primary school teacher in the early 1980s. He subsequently moved into initial teacher education and then to the Open University (OU) to advise on their use of ICT. As Head of the Department of Education Peter’s vision was that the OU should be preparing educators for the 21st Century. His PhD focussed on enhancing the impact of investments in ‘educational’ ICT, and since then his research has revolved around schome (not school – not home – schome – the education system for the information age) – see http://www.schome.ac.uk/. Shortly after becoming the Co-Director of the Centre for Research in Education and Educational Technology Peter led a team that won the Vital contract from the DCSF.
